#Reading log

2024-10-22: I’m on to reading another book in the Culture series. It has been a fascinating journey over the years. What I like about these books is not so much the thrilling story line—these books are long-winded—it’s more about the future building. I like the concepts they detail. How ships and AI are part of the intelligent collective, and how humans and avatars fits into that culture. The books also don’t feature a coherent story (like 📚 The Three-Body Problem for instance). It’s always new characters, worlds, and times—what stays is the culture and the development of the mind states. I like this categorization that each civilization is on different civilizational standard levels.

2024-10-28: Lededje was murdered by her slave taker. But she had a neural lace in her head which copied her mind-state—basically backing up her personality. And she was transferred to another GSV (General System Vehicle).

2024-10-30: Fascinating concept about virtual Hells where people are sent after death to inflict more torture on them. Due to the existence of these Hells there is a conflict out in the Real and it seems like the only way to solve it would be through a VR war. All characters play different parts of this conflict, but they’re all drawn to each other by it.
