I don’t remember how this book happened to be on my reading list, but I craved another fiction story right now so I started listening to this one last week. I loved the atmosphere in the book, it feels like being moved to 1883 in a Victorian London.
It follows “Thaniel” who is working as a clerk in the London Home Office. One day he receives an odd pocket watch at his home, a watch which later turns out to save his life.
Stupefied who the watch belongs to he sets out find the owner. It leads him to an unusual friendship with Keita Mori, a clairvoyant watchmaker from Japan who can “remember” the future. There’s a huge mix of themes involved in the story and what I really liked was the way “time travel” is introduced in the book.
