Another book on public speaking. Together with đ Confessions of a Public Speaker these are my goâto books when preparing for a presentation.
#Things to consider
- Being onstage is an incredibly vulnerable act.
- To start, public speaking (or put another way, broadcasting your abilities and knowledge) has definite career benefits.
- Giving a talk grows so many skill sets: crafting a succinct way to share information, reading an audience, and eloquently handling an adrenaline-heavy moment.
- People tend to be curious about how others do their work.
- Use your presentation to lead your audience to both inspiration and concrete next steps.
- If youâre anxious about rushing through your talk, limit yourself to one major thought per slide for a more consistent rhythm.
- Remind yourself to breathe! Give yourself lots of big pauses to help your future self take it easy on the stage.
- Think about what clothing would get you in that mindset for your own talkâwhat would make you feel like a superhero?
- Triple-check you have enough power on your laptop to run through the entire presentation, or plug it inâand ensure its screen wonât fall asleep midway through your talk.
