2023-11-15: These books have fascinated me this autumn. The third book picks up the pace in the exact same manner as the previous two. It goes back in time and tells things in a new light from how the timeline proceeded in the previous book. I didn’t see it coming that the Trisolarans would get the upper hand again but when Luo Ji had to step down as the Swordfacer they immediately took the chance. The droplets destroyed all facilities able to transmit the location of Trisolaris and Earth according to dark forest deterrence. It’s also incredible how quickly people start blaming Luo Ji for the “mundicide” on the planet he cast the spell on. At first nobody cared. Then he goes on to save humanity, but as soon as things settle down people start finding all things that were wrong with his actions and prosecuting him. “There may have been life there.” This is so ridiculous but also true. It’s what our society would do in the same case. Humanity has to resettle in Australia as the Trisolarans prepare to populate the rest of the earth. Mankind will go from about 4 billion to around 50 million.
