#Snippets I liked

#Reading log

2025-09-08: 📚 Altes Land has been a nice reading experience. Each chapter is from another one of the characters in the village’s point of view. Everybody has their own perspective and it’s funny to hear how bad they think about all the others. It’s basically like getting into the head of each character every chapter. And then it rotates. Everybody see themselves as the center of the world, and got their own problems to deal with. I like this country-side setting though.

2025-09-03: This has been a fun read over the last week. I’m happy to realize how well I can follow the story while reading in German. The book is about Vera, a girl that comes to Germany after the war. The story is told through different generations, so you get to follow both Vera as she grows up, but also her daughter, and granddaughter while she’s an adult. Each chapter jumps between the different timelines, but connect everything beautifully. Sometimes you may learn something in the 80’s, and then the timeline jump back to the 50’s where that thing you learned makes sense.

2025-09-01: I keep reading 📚 Altes Land and enjoy it. The way the author describes the overprotective moms is so spot on. I can see many of these characters in everyday life.
